Experience Award
Peter F. Schlicht, a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC in Sewickley, has earned the Ameriprise Client Experience Award for 2022. Schlicht was honored for his ability to consistently deliver personalized, goal-based advice and exceptional client service. The award represents an elite group of Ameriprise advisors recognized as leaders for their commitment to making a difference in the lives of their clients. Schlicht is a 39-year resident of Sewickley. He has served his community as a member of Sewickley council and on the boards of directors of the Sweetwater Center of the Arts and the Sewickley Valley YMCA. Schlicht currently serves as the president of the Valley Care Association, which operates an adult daycare center in Ambridge.
TEDxYouth open to all
On May 13, Sewickley Academy is hosting a TEDxYouth event on campus in Rea Auditorium from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The theme is “What is success?” There is no charge to attend and the event is open to the public. Attendees will hear from several influential speakers from the Pittsburgh area as they discuss how they achieved success in their personal journeys in the areas of literature, entertainment, entrepreneurship, healthcare, sports and technology. Scheduled speakers include Leslie Bonci of Active Eating Advice, Dr. Bryan Donohue who is the cardiovascular consultant to the WWE; Karen Hanlon with Highmark Health, Pallavi (Golla ’02) Patil of Lark Adventurewear, D. Tea & Treasures
On May 7, Sustainable Sewickley is holding a “Tea & Treasures” event at Fern Hollow Nature Center. Drop in anytime between 3-5 p.m. to enjoy tea and treats while supporting unique, local vendors. Ukraine
benefit concert
The second Benefit Concert for Ukraine will take place at 5:30 p.m. May 6 at the Sewickley United Methodist Church. It will feature solo and chamber performances by Dr. Solomiya Ivakhiv, William Caballero, Victoria Luperi, Cynthia Koledo DeAlmeida, Sung-Im Kim, Rodrigo Ojeda and more. Business Connection

Paving
projects awarded
Glen Osborne council awarded a near $80,000 paving contract to El Grande Industries, according to its March 21 meeting minutes. The project is for repaving McKown Lane and Colonial Place. Council also approved a near $13,000 crack sealing contract to John Wick. Wick will seal various borough roads, according to meeting minutes.

Library
activities planned
Sewickley Public Library hosts Block Party, a family program for children ages birth to 6 and their caregivers, is planned for 10:30 a.m. to noon May 6 at 500 Thorn St.
Participants can play, build, read and learn together with blocks. Develop hand-eye coordination and learn science, technology and engineering concepts. No registration is required.
The library’s anime club will meet from 3:30-4:30 p.m. May 9 in the Community Room. Snacks, games and more will be available. It is open to all students in grades 6-12.
The library’s mystery book club will meet from 7-8 p.m. May 9 in the Conference Room. All are invited to discuss an assortment of mystery mayhem. This month’s read is “The It Girl” by Ruth Ware.
