FRISCO, Texas – New Orleans Beach Volleyball’s most winningest pair Trinity Jackson and Alexa Spartz were named to the Southland All-Academic team the league announced Thursday afternoon.
The recognition adds to an already decorated season in which the No.2 pair earned first team All-Southland, set the record for most pair wins in program history (28), and led the Southland with a 28-7 record. Spartz finished her career with 75 career wins – also the most in program history. Jackson was not far behind with 65 career wins which ties for 2nd in program history.
This is both Jackson’s and Spartz’ second consecutive career all-academic honor, having been selected in 2021 when they were paired at No.3.
Spartz, who graduated last week, earned her bachelor’s degree in human performance and health promotion and recorded a 3.86 GPA. Jackson earned her degree in studio art with a 3.86 GPA as well.
Alison Stanfill of HCU was named the 2023 Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Year,
The all-academic team is voted on by a head coach, sports information director and an academic/compliance staff member from each Southland Conference institution. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA and completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to qualify for All-Academic selection. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have earned at least a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated athletics achievement for at least two years at the nominating institution.
